Boxgirls South Africa was celebrating girls‘ and Women’s rights in Harare and Site C in Khayelitsha last Month. On the 11th of March our Boxgirls from Luleka and Isiphiwo primary school invited their parents and family members to come to our Girl Power event. The girls prepared posters on their learnings at Boxgirls as well as songs and dances. The mothers, fathers and aunts were proud to see their girls being on stage and confidently speaking in front of all guests. We were proud to see such a great support from the community for their girls.
On top of that the event was supported by our visitors from the Olin Business School from the Washington University St. Louis, who were great helping hands to prepare the food and video tape our girls.
One week later our Boxgirls from Site C came together at Vuzamanzi Primary School to show what they have learned to their families. We were impressed by the courage and confidence of the girls. As special guest a nurse from the Site C clinic joint our event and took the opportunity to inform the girls about her work and telling them about her own experiences growing up in Site C.
What motivates us as a team is seeing the smile on the girls faces knowing that they are happy and seeing the progress of our program.
Stong Girls. Safe Communities.
